About Me

About Me

I grew up in Orr, Mn population 234. As a kid I spent all my time in the woods playing and hunting or on the lake fishing or swimming.  To this day there is nothing that I enjoy more than spending my time on the water or in the woods. What better place to do this than northern Mn. For all but 5 years of my life I’ve been up here. But it was when I was living a suburb of the Twin Cities that I first got into photography.  I lived not far from Rebecca Lake Park and spent a lot of time walking and taking pictures. After living in Orr for so many years I always thought of the Twin Cities and surrounding areas as neighborhoods and buildings. I was surprised at the quality and quantity of the parks. Now that I am back up in northern Mn I find that I miss the parks and trail systems of the Twin Cities.

No matter how many parks the Twin Cities has though it cannot match the sheer vastness of the wilderness where I live now in Cook, Mn.  Here I take advantage of my close proximity to the BWCA with a few trips each year.  My wife and I also love to visit the north shore of Lake Superior. If I were to visit one place in Minnesota (after the BWCA of course) it would be the north shore. Of the many things it has to offer we enjoy the hikes to the many waterfalls up the coast the most.  This is where I proposed to my wife and will always be a place to return to.

Speaking of my wife, I would like to tell you about my family. My wife, April was born and raised in Cook, which is about 15 miles from my home town of Orr. The funny thing is I never knew her growing up and didn’t meet her until I had been living in the twin cities for a few years. We dated for a couple of years and on 6/7/08 we were married and I moved up from the cities. We have a son, Sawyer and a daughter, Laurin. I can’t wait to share all the things I enjoy doing with them as they grow.

You will notice that I have a tab of family related pics, which I will treat kind of like a photo blog of what’s going on in my life.  The BWCA tab I will reserve strictly for Boundary Waters trips.  The rest of the site will be dedicated to showing my attempts at capturing the beauty that God has given us to enjoy!

Please leave comments and let me know what you like or dislike about the site and photos.

Thanks.

Jesse
