I love going to see my brother. He lives near so many great experiences.
The first time out there we went to Mt. Hood and had some great views from Trillium Lake. We were there on Thanksgiving Day and for a long time we had the lake to ourselves. It was my first time seeing snow capped mountains and this was the way to do it. We also made it to Multnomah Falls on the Columbia River Gorge and to Cannon Beach on that trip.
My second trip I went without my wife so Luke and I tried to do some things that are a little more adventurous than maybe she would have been up for. We picked a hike that we were almost not ready for. Check out our hike on PortlandHikers.org Rock of Ages Loop This had my brother and I crawling in a few spots thinking I would for sure fall to my death. I know I’m so brave. By the time we were done my feet were sore and I was wore out, but I wouldn’t have changed anything about that day. Thanks Luke for going along with this. On this trip we also went to the ape caves and did some spelunking through an underground lava flow. We also visited Silverfalls Park, which has something like 9 waterfalls in 5 miles of trails. When we were done hiking we always made time for a few of Portland’s great micro brews.
I can’t wait to get back.
